After the success of the coffee table, I wanted to build a few side tables to match.
I utilized the same materials and construction techniques, making the side tables 2′ square. I used three sheets of 2’x4′ 3/4″ birch plywood and cut each one in half. Three panels per table and a 1’x4′ pine board for the support (two each table).
I used the same stain for the side tables (I bought a pint can of oak and cherry and mixed in a glass jar) and brought out the table to make sure I got the color correct.
A few coats of polyurethane – and I was complete. I finished both tables in a weekend (construction, stain, and first coat of poly on Saturday and sanding and second coat on Sunday).
